Silly girl's 12 month well check

We had Aubree's 12 month well check on Friday. She is weighing in at a whopping 18 lbs 13 oz and is 28 1/4" long. Still my tiny girl. That puts her at the 20th percentile for weight and 25th for height. So, no forward facing seat for now. Her dr said in a month or two we could stop in to get her weighed to see if she is at the 20 lb marker yet. Overall, dr was very pleased with her growth. When the nurse was asking about milestones, one of them being "can she wave?" Aubree decided to show the nurse herself and waved at her. Then she asked, "and she plays peek a boo and patty cake?" Miss show off started clapping, lol. She is such a funny girl! She didn't like being weighed and fussed again when the dr tried looking in her mouth and screamed during the shots, but overall she did pretty well.

Aubree is really non stop. She is wearing her mama out, but it's worth it for all of the silly things she does to make me laugh. She's got a new face she is making when she eats. It's almost impossible to describe - I've got a short video of it I'll have to post later on.

We tried a big girl bath the other day in the regular tub. She did very well! I was worried about her slipping in there, but our tub has a textured bottom so it worked out very well. She seemed to like being a big girl. Only issue we had is she wants to keep standing up in there. Why didn't anyone tell me that saying "no" to a one year old doesn't mean a whole lot?!

Busy vacation week

Aubree and I have had a busy week! We got her pictures taken on her birthday and have done a lot of mommy and me time. It's been so nice to just be with her all day.

She is such a busy girl these days! Now that she is mobile, she is going non stop. I'm seriously considering taking naps each time she does! I think it's the only way I'm going to be able to keep up with her.

And now for news of the inevitable. We knew it would happen...only a matter of when. She terrorized the dog today. I put Aubree in her walker so I could take a shower and she couldn't get in too much trouble. She kept trying to come into the bathroom, but since our bathroom is narrow, she can't get past the vanity and door, but she sure kept trying. Enter poor, unassuming Lexii. I kept peeking out to see what Aubree was doing and next thing I know, Lex is laying next to the bathtub. Aubree had trapped her in there and Lex was smart enough to know Bree couldn't get her. When I got out, I had to back Aubree up so the dog could escape only to have Aubree follow her into our bedroom. When I backed Aubree up again so Lex could get out, Bree took off after her through the living room into the kitchen. Lexii's only real escape was outside, so I let her have some relief from crazy, mobile Aubree. That girlie is entertaining to say the least!

Aubree's 1st birthday party

Well, all of the planning is past us now. We had Aubree's first birthday yesterday (8/16) afternoon. Everything turned out so well - the weather couldn't have been more beautiful! Aubree had a pretty good nap before people started to arrive, so even that worked in our favor. She had a great time visiting with everyone and playing in the pool for a bit. She wasn't too into the gift opening, so Bob and I did all of that. Sydnee (to the right of Aubree in the picture) got her a bear from Kohls and she started giggling when she saw it. Sydnee even made a card for her - so incredibly sweet!

Before the cake, we did a Polish tradition. In front of the child, you put a piece of bread, shot glass, rosary and coin to see what they grab first. She grabbed the bread - she will never go hungry. The then grabbed the money (she will never go broke). Next came the rosary (she will be religious). She sort of ignored the shot glass (means they will never go thirsty). It's a nice tradition I am happy to help pass on (Bob's family is Polish).

Cake time. It didn't go exactly how I'd hoped. The one time we give our child complete reign over her food and she didn't dig in. She got a few mouthfuls of frosting and even tried to feed some to her cousin, Meghan (on Aubree's left), but quickly decided she didn't want anything more to do with it.

By the end of the party, she was pretty tuckered out and fell asleep on her Papa Rutherford. My sweet girl.
